Our Story

Local. Friendly. Professional.
LMi.net was founded the Berkeley way: with curiosity, capability, and a can-do spirit.
Back in the early days of the internet—when dial-up tones were part of the soundtrack of everyday life—Gary and Dan were working at a company that built networking equipment. They noticed a common theme among their clients: folks had the gear, but no one to install it. So, the two decided to fill that gap.
Before long, they expanded beyond hardware installation. First came mail exchange services. Then, they launched their own dial-up internet access. From there, LMi.net was born—a locally rooted, fiercely independent internet provider that’s grown with the times while keeping its feet firmly planted in the Berkeley community.
Over the years, we’ve stayed ahead of the curve as technology evolved. We added DSL and T-1 services, then embraced the shift to high-speed fiber. Today, we offer fast, reliable internet access throughout the East Bay and robust managed IT solutions for small and midsize businesses.
While our technology has transformed, our core values haven’t changed. We’re still a tight-knit, local company run by real people—many of whom have been here for decades. If you call or email us, you might even hear back from one of our founders. We believe in keeping things personal, responsive, and human.
And though we’ve expanded what we offer—fiber internet, IT support, hosting, and more—we’ve never lost sight of what matters: doing the right thing for our customers, protecting privacy and net neutrality, and providing strong, reliable infrastructure for the people and businesses around us.
We’re proud to be a little nerdy, a little Berkeley, and really good at what we do.
